HHP started as a way for me to get my dad a decent sandwich when he’s at the hospital, and has turned into a lot more. I hope to make other people’s days just a little bit better every day. This includes patients and families, the hospital employees caring for them, as well as the HHP team and their families. I want HHP to be a successful business that we know provides an atmosphere of support and hospitality to people when they need it the most.

When I was 17, my mom and I were visiting colleges in Boston. I’m a huge baseball fan, so we decided to check out Fenway Park. We didn’t have tickets, and the game was half-over at that point, but I just wanted to see it. As we walked around the outside of the ballpark, a kind, elderly usher opened a green door that blended into the exterior, almost like a hidden door. He casually invited us into a private area underneath the stadium and led us to a fence lining the infield, and we got to watch the rest of the game from there! It was incredible. We of course thanked the man profusely, and to this day I know he just made our day because he realized he could. To me, that’s the essence of hospitality.
At HHP, we believe healthcare environments are deserving of best-in-class comforts, amenities, and experiences. This became quite clear for me after visiting family members in the hospital, and it’s an honor to serve nurses, doctors, and the broader healthcare community, as their work and wellbeing is now more important than ever.

My wife and I traveled to Positano, Italy, and there was a small local restaurant we enjoyed so much that we had dinner there two times in three days. During our second visit, the staff was so thrilled that we returned that they introduced us to the owner, chef, and even gave us a small gift as a keepsake. There was clearly no expectation of a good online review or any future business; they simply wanted to express their joy and appreciation!
When my dad was in hospice at the end of his battle with ALS, I had to physically leave the hospital every day to find a bite to eat for my mom, brother and I due to lack of high-quality options. At HHP, we’re on a mission to make sure no one has to leave a loved one’s bedside for something decent to eat again.

When I was running the bar program at Union Square Cafe, we had a couple who were both teachers come in for their anniversary. We knew they’d been saving up all year to dine at the restaurant. Chef and I put together a custom tasting menu for them ahead of time and at the end of the evening, comped the bill to their surprise. I’ve never seen guests more grateful – I’ll never forget the look on their faces!
Beyond simply loving the people I get to work with every day, I get to use my industry knowledge from the worlds of hospitality and real estate to create partnerships that uplift both the people and performance within healthcare.

Getting to know the local taqueria wherever I’ve lived! Grandma’s Tacos (Palacio) in Chicago, Taqueria Guadalajara in the Mission, Del Sol in Gualala. Family-owned, local spots always have the warmest vibe – and when you eat a burrito every week through your 20s, they start to feel like home!

The intersection of healthcare and hospitality sees a lot of wrong turns and gridlock. HHP has found a way to navigate it all and rewarded us with amazing partners and mighty tasty products. Plus, my colleagues are pretty great.

My local bodega, Mr. Melon, had a fresh juice counter where you could select a custom blend of fruits and veggies. Knowing that the final volume of juice was always more than the cups could hold, they would stop blending halfway, pass it over for a drink, then fill up the rest of the cup. It felt like I was getting the special treatment… every. single. time.

One of my bridesmaids contacted the hotel we were staying at for our honeymoon. When we arrived, they had a few of our wedding pictures printed out and framed around the room!
I believe in HHP’s strength of combining real estate and hospitality to bring a bright spot to someone’s day – especially those who need it most.

At our first dinner at what would become one of our favorite restaurants in San Francisco, we arrived around 8pm and were one of the last tables to leave. The waitress and sommelier were incredible! At the end of the night, they gave us each a special chocolate bar reserved for VIPs with very unique flavors. The packaging even matched the wallpaper of the restaurant. We continue to take friends there and tell them all about our first visit.
I spent the first half of my career advising food/beverage marketers, and the second half doing brand and creative work for healthcare companies. I get to combine both passions at HHP – and more importantly, bring hospitality into spaces that are often rife with stress.

When I was a kid, we'd roadtrip to my grandma's house once or twice a year. At night, my brothers and I would put on our pajamas, and she'd have us join in on her nightly ritual of having a cup of Ovaltine and Hydrox cookies. She wasn't a lovey-dovey, let-me-spoil-you kind of grandma, which made the invitation to hang out, load up on sugar and ask her whatever we wanted feel extra special.
